N.C. 4-H - Hungry to Help!

Every day hunger disrupts the lives of 1 in 5 children in North Carolina. Hunger is a problem hiding "in plain sight" in North Carolina. Whether it involves skipping meals, eating less than is needed to live a healthy life, or making do with foods that are filling but not nutritious, hunger's effects can be devastating, especially among our more vulnerable citizens, including children and older adults.

Join others as we combat hunger as we kick off a food drive for our local food banks during National 4-H Week - October 4-10, 2010.

Surry County 4-H will be collecting non-perishable food items at the following drop off sites: Charles H. Stone Memorial Library, Dobson Public Library, Elkin Public Library, Reeves Community Center, Armfield Civic Center, Extension Center, Dobson, and Pilot Mtn. State Park.

Click here to learn more about hunger and to find a list of suggested Healthy Food Donations. If you would like to learn more about how you can help with this great endeavor or would like to be a drop off site, call 401-8025.
