Purple Up for Military Kids Day!

Wednesday, April 15, 2015 - Purple UP! for Military Kids Day!
April is the Month of the Military Child , providing an opportunity to recognize and honor the service of NC’s youngest heroes, over 109,000 military children. Help us turn North Carolina purple on April 15th! Be creative….the goal is for military youth to see they have our thanks and support.
The North Carolina 4-H Military Partnerships, part of NC Cooperative Extension, invites you to join us for the 5th annual Purple Up! for Military Kids celebration by wearing purple on Wednesday, April 15th. This is a very visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Marine red, and Coast Guard, Navy and Air Force blue.
Send us photos for our website and Facebook page for military youth and families to see!
Looking for ways to spread the word about Purple Up? Be creative! The goal is for military families to actually see the support of their local community. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Ask news and media outlets to feature a story about Purple Up! For Military Kids.
Involve schools, sports teams, youth organizations, clubs, daycare programs and after-school programs by having them wear purple to show their support for military youth and families.
Ask local businesses to “purple up” by displaying purple decorations or allowing their employees to wear purple.
No matter how else you celebrate Month of the Military Child, be sure to encourage everyone in your community to wear purple. Help share the support with military families across the state by taking photos of people participating in Purple Up! for Military Kids in your community and sending them to NC Cooperative Extension Military Outreach at jsenroug@ncsu.edu . We will share them on our website so military youth and families everywhere will see them. Let’s show our military families how much we appreciate their service.
